What an encouraging start to a new year! On Wednesday, January 2, our newest small group started. We've been working with another couple from class on our small groups. They suggested we start a second location in Surrey, the part of town they live in because it's pretty far away from our other location.
After talking about it for some time and talking with a guy who came to our Commercial Drive group who lives in Surrey as well, we were ready to start. We posted information for this group on our meet up group and started a second meet up group just for Surrey. We all invited people we've met who live in the Surrey area, and from all of this we had 7 locals come for the first meeting in addition to us Americans!
People were open and shared their stories. We had a special time of prayer for the needs expressed. We read through and discussed the Bible story of the sinful woman who poured perfume on Jesus' feet. I think we were all encouraged. Everyone said they'd come back. Many stayed and talked for a long time after the group ended. One even suggested we become a house church like in Acts.
Pray for this group to continue to grow and for everyone to bond together as they share life with each other. Pray for us to learn a lot and see who are in our lives that we can share these stories of hope with. Pray for Ab, who will become the local leader once we all leave, that he will be able to lead this group and keep it going.
