We've had several events geared to get to know more people this month. We threw two big parties for kids and families in a park near our church and worked with our partners from Cru to host a picnic for university students. We've invited people over to our home to hang out and have met people in cafes. We've held a couple of Bible discovery groups in a couple different locations, and we've also recently started going out each week with one of our partners to prayer walk and to do spiritual surveys in a neighborhood where our team is trying to plant a new church.
We've really been convicted about expanding our circles--getting to know more people and sharing the truth with them sooner. There are so many people who need to hear--so many people we do not yet know. More people than we can reach alone. So we're leading lots of training sessions teaching others how to share their faith and challenging them to share with their friends and to also do broad seed-sowing to reach more of their friends. So everyone can hear.
In Acts 19:9-10, it says that Paul and the Ephesian disciples held daily discussions about the gospel and that by the end of two years, "all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord."
We've been here two years. I can say we are a LONG, LONG, LONG way from this same sentence being written about our city--let alone our region.
But this is the goal. This is what we're praying for. A movement of disciples mobilized to share the gospel. So everyone hears. So new disciples are made. So churches are formed.
How long have you lived where you live? How many people there have heard the full gospel message? What can you do to help mobilize others to reach every person in your town?
May we pray for each other and partner together to reach our cities, our regions for Christ!
