Again, we're amazed at how good God is. We prayed, and you prayed, and God answered...AGAIN! We have an apartment. We received an e-mail today letting us know our proposal was accepted. We can move in June 3. This is 3 days before our crate is expected to be released from the port, assuming it stays on time. We felt like we were running out of time to find a place, but God's timing always works out. We have our place with 3 days to spare.
We were able to find an apartment in Lumiar, the part of Lisbon that we already live in. We love this part of the city because it is easy to access other neighborhoods from, and it's family-friendly and near a large park. We're moving to the other side of the park from where we live now, in the heart of "downtown" Lumiar--where the governmental offices and the commercial area is.There are at least two grocery stores within a 3 minute walk and 2 pharmacies. The metro is literally right outside the door from our building. There are a few shops, clinics, eye doctors, fruit stands, and other businesses within a 5 minute walk. Plus, there are several cafes, pastry shops, and restaurants nearby.
Today during our prayer walk of the area, we found a little bookstore that we hadn't yet seen. The guy working in the store was really friendly and talked to us for awhile when we were checking out with a new book for Eliana.
I met a new friend for coffee today at one of the pastry shops nearby. She is another connection through the time bank and is willing to meet me each week to talk in Portuguese. Her son and his family lives in a building around the corner from ours. We are excited about this connection--for language help for me and the potential of meeting some of our neighbors.
Here is a link to see pictures of our new apartment. Of course, we'll make a video and take pictures once we move in and have time to make it our home.
