Our first getaway!

We needed a short break from all of our stress of apartment hunting, so after getting out of language class on Friday and finishing some other required things, we packed up and headed out of town for the night. Our destination: Óbidos, a small town surrounded by an old castle wall. I don't know how old it is, but the walls were renovated in the 1200s. We walked along the walls looking down at the city, walked through old churches and down beautiful streets, sampled chocolates, and ate some really good Portuguese food.

The next day we went shopping at a pottery factory and bought new Christmas dishes and then headed to Peniche, a beach town. On the way home, we stopped in another town for coffee and found another old castle and church to explore. Plus, we ate a delicious "bean" pastry.

It was only one day, but it provided us with a breath of fresh air to continue our apartment hunt, language study, and ministry. We are ready for the upcoming week!
