5 years and counting

We celebrated our fifth anniversary this weekend. 5 years. 5 wonderful years. Years full of changes. We spent our first couple of years in New Orleans. We spent almost a year of transition spending a few months in Minden, Vancouver, and Richmond before moving to Lisbon. Next month we will have lived here two years. We moved from being a family of two to a family of three. We've learned how to live and make friends in a different culture using a different language.

There have been a lot of changes. Good changes. Changes that try us and grow us. We've had days of functioning on barely any sleep. Days of dealing with logistics in a system completely foreign from ours. But days full of laughter and new friendships.

Life changes. Life goes on.

But one thing stays the same. I'm married to the most amazing man. We both said "I do." Forever. Each day brings new challenges--brings ups and downs. But each day we choose to love each other. Each day we choose to assume the best, to support each other, to cheer each other on, to serve each other.

And because of this, it doesn't matter what tomorrow brings--where we are, what new challenge we face--we'll be okay. God has designed us to be each other's helpmate, to work together toward the task he called us to do.

We can't wait to see what the next five years bring. And all the many years after that.
